When I created this artwork, I was thinking about how easily we adapt to the people and situations around us. Sometimes we do this to fit in, to stay safe, or not to stand out. But when we do, we can slowly start to forget who we truly are. And when you let go of your own identity, you often end up surrounded by people who don’t really match with you and you don’t even feel comfortable with them.
In this painting, the profile of a woman blends with the eye of a zebra. They seem like one, almost the same, and yet they are not. The strong black-and-white patterns and the bright yellow and blue accents tell a story about contrast and identity. Like a chameleon, we can adapt but if we forget our own colours, we slowly fade into the background of someone else.
What also inspired me is what I see in my own children, now ten and thirteen years old. Until about the age of ten, children are often completely themselves. After that you can see how they become more aware of their surroundings and how much they want to belong. That search touches me deeply and inspired me to create this piece.

Hanging Instructions
Aluminium Hanging Frame
The stylish and solid aluminium hanging frame is pre-mounted on the back of the print. This frame is included with sizes 80×120 cm and 100×150 cm.
- Easy to mount on the wall thanks to the built‑in edge of the frame
- The pre‑mounted frame is not visible from the front, making the panel appear to “float” (with a 2 cm distance) from the wall

Hidden Hanging System
