When I created this artwork, I reflected on how easily we adapt to the people and situations around us. Sometimes we do this to fit in, to stay safe, or simply not to stand out. But when we do, we can slowly forget who we truly are. And when you let go of your own identity, you often find yourself surrounded by people who don’t really align with you people with whom you don’t even feel comfortable.
In this work, the profile of a woman merges with the eye of a zebra. They seem like one, almost the same, and yet they are not. The bold black-and-white patterns and the striking yellow and blue accents tell a story about contrast and identity. Like a chameleon, we can adapt, but if we forget our own colors, we slowly fade into the background of someone else’s world.
I was also inspired by what I see in my own children, now ten and thirteen years old. Until about the age of ten, children are often completely themselves. After that, you begin to see how aware they become of their surroundings and how strongly they want to fit in. That search touches me deeply and inspired me to create this piece.
When you hang this artwork in your space, it’s like a soft voice whispering to you each day: keep your own rhythm. Be proud of your colors. They make you who you are.

Hanging Instructions
Aluminium Hanging Frame
The stylish and solid aluminium hanging frame is pre-mounted on the back of the print. This frame is included with sizes 80×120 cm and 100×150 cm.
- Easy to mount on the wall thanks to the built‑in edge of the frame
- The pre‑mounted frame is not visible from the front, making the panel appear to “float” (with a 2 cm distance) from the wall

Hidden Hanging System
